Jade was diagnosed with the cancer in June '08. She was doing well and did not appear to be in any pain. I decided to get Jade out more and enjoy life outside of our house, and today we went to visit my former English professor, Mrs. Pearl Vanderharr in Conyers, GA. (formerly Ms. Peavy). Ms. Pearl has one of Jadeâs puppies that Jade had 9 years ago. The solid buff Cocker Spaniel is of course Jade and the other white and buff Cocker Spaniel is Ginger.
However, Jade passed away on 2/28/09 after a long battle with cancer.
We will miss our little Jadey Girl.
With angels watching over her, she will forever live in our hearts. Jade brought us so much joy as God loaned her to us.

Lend Me a Pup
I will lend to you for awhile
a puppy, God said,
For you to love him while he lives
and to mourn for him when he is gone.
Maybe for 12 or 14 years,
or maybe for 2 or 3
But will you, till I call him back
take care of him for me?
Heâll bring his charms to gladden you
and (should his stay be brief)
youâll always have his memories
as solace for your grief.
I cannot promise that he will stay
since all from Earth return,
But there are lessons taught below
I want this pup to learn.
Iâve looked the whole world over
in seach of teachers true
And from the fold that crowd lifeâs land
I have chosen you.
Now will you give him all your love
Nor think the labor vain,
nor hate me when I come to take my pup back again?
I fancied that I heard them say,
âDear Lord, They Will Be Done,â
For all the joys this pup will bring
the risk of grief youâll run.
Will you shelter him with tenderness,
Will you love him while you may?
And for the happiness youâll know forever grateful stay.
But should I call him back
much sooner than youâve planned,
please brave the bitter grief that comes and try to understand.
If, by your love, youâve managed
my wishes to achieve,
In memory of him that youâve loved,
cherish every moment with your faithful bundle, and know he loved you too.

A Time to Remember
|
Just Remember by Corrine, age 14
I know how much you miss her, I know how much you've cried, And every time you think of her, You wonder why she died.
She is up in heaven now, Watching over you, And she sits by your bed at night, Wondering what to do.
So in the morning she eats breakfast, In the afternoon she goes to school, In the evening she eats dinner, And at night she goes to bed, following the rule.
She does all those things to stay with you, And tries to let you know that she is there, So every time you start to cry, She can do more than just stare.
She will jump into your lap, And try to comfort you, So that you will start to smile, Just remember, she loves you too.
So next time you go to her grave, Remember, she's not there, She is sitting by your feet, Looking at you with her loving stare.
Dedicated to all pets that pass away
and you just need a little comfort. |
